Ask Us

We hope to cover the most frequently asked questions below however if your particular question isn’t covered or you’d just like a little more clarification on something, then please get in touch and we’ll be more than happy to help.

Q I have legal expenses cover on my home/car insurance policy, can I use this to pay for the service?

There’s no charge whatsoever for this introduction service or for your personal consultation with your chosen solicitor. Once you’ve decided who you’re going with, your solicitor will discuss legal fees, charges and funding options with you before formally taking on your case. It’s worth remembering that although legal expenses cover can be used for some areas of law that a solicitor can help with, each policy is different. Please ask your solicitor for more advice on legal expenses cover and how/if your policy is applicable to your case. Further information on funding your case can be found here.

Q So, when and what will I actually be charged for the service?

As mentioned, the introduction to a solicitor provided by Law-Match is totally free of charge, as is the personal consultation  or consultation with a solicitor. Should you choose to instruct the solicitor you’ll then have the opportunity to discuss costs before you commit as well as the benefit of discounted rates on their standard fee charges. Further information on funding your case can be found here

Q. After my introduction and consultation, what discounts are on offer?

Law-Match has negotiated a discount on the standard rates charged by our solicitors for your exclusive benefit. Your matter may be eligible for a ‘no win no fee’ arrangement and this can be discussed with your solicitor at the time of your consultation.

Q Will I need to meet my solicitor?

Nowadays with email and online legal services there is less need to meet with a legal advisor face to face. Indeed it may be much more cost efficient to instruct a solicitor who you never intend to meet and who may be based some 200 miles from where you live.  In many areas of law including personal injury, residential conveyancing and business start ups, you may decide that it is more important to get expert advice that is competitively priced than on your doorstep. You may notice that some of the Law-Match experts are not located in your region. You will have the choice of instructing a local lawyer but remember that all our law firms have been carefully chosen based on some very stringent criteria and can guarantee service levels far superior to firms on your high street and offering greater value for money.

Q I work quite a distance from my home, can I opt to speak to a solicitor in a different location?

Yes, you can search solicitors by either region, town, city or postcode. So, if it would be more convenient to use a law firm near your place of work then feel free to use the search function to find a law firm in another location.

Q How can I be sure I’m choosing a good solicitor?

Law-Match has done all the research for you and selected firms in each location who are good at what they do with a reputation for high levels of service. Many of the firms we work with have gained recognition in the legal directories including Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and Who’s Who Legal and been achieved numerous industry awards and accolades.

Q I have an on-going case and I’m not happy with the solicitor who I initially instructed, can I change to a solicitor on Law-Match?

Before instructing a new solicitor you have to officially dis-instruct your current solicitor which is a straightforward process. So, if you’re not 100% happy with your current firm, it’s worth taking advantage of the personal consultation with a new solicitor through Law-Match, who can then tell you more about how to do this.

Q: Law-Match will introduce me to expert legal advice in my location for my specific problem; does this mean that they are the most expensive?

Nobody likes spending money on legal fees, but you want to be sure that you’re getting the best advice and value for money. Speaking to an expert could save you time and money in the long run. That’s why, in addition to selecting all the law firms we work with based on their reputation and expertise, Law-Match has negotiated a discount on the solicitors standard rates on your behalf.

Q The solicitor wants me to provide my passport and other documents, why do they need these?

To ensure they fully comply with industry regulations, all solicitors will request this documentation. If you refuse, then they can’t take on your case.

Q My problem doesn’t fall into one of the categories listed on the website does this mean that you don’t have a solicitor to deal with it?

We’ve got solicitors for every eventuality! But, in an effort to keep our site as user friendly as possible, we’ve simplified the search functions. So, if you can’t initially see something that relates to your problem, please try using the text box to search function. It may be that the advice you require sits within another area in the law. If this doesn’t help, please feel free to call or email us on 0844 324 6556 or email us at feedback@law-match.co.uk  and we’ll be happy to help.

Q I really need to speak to someone urgently, should I contact the firm directly?

If you contact the firm directly you’ll not be able to claim your initial free consultation that you’re entitled to as a member of Law-Match. You may request a callback using the forms on the website, the solicitors will call you back within the following working hour. Alternatively please contact us on 0344 324 6556 or email us at feedback@law-match.co.uk and we’ll ensure you have someone to speak to as soon as possible.

Q A family member has a problem and I want to book them an appointment -what do I do?

Your membership covers both you and your immediate family. If you wish to add your partner, son or daughter, mother, father or brother or sister there is a function on the site to do this. Each member will have their own account and separate log in ensuring that all information and advice requested from Lawmatch is kept private to the user.
